European Infant Formulas FAQs

Is European formula a healthier and safer choice for my baby?

By strictly following regulations on the production of baby formulas and foods, European formulas are much safer and healthier for your little one compared to those produced in other regions. They contain no preservatives, added cane sugar, high fructose corn syrup, gluten, or artificial flavorings and coloring. This ensures that your baby gets the best possible nutrition without any unnecessary additives. Additionally, our formulas here at Mommy Formulas are all organic, sourced only from grass-fed cows and goats. In fact, we even offer Demeter-certified organic formula, something that is not readily available on American shelves. This means that the environment and the cows are being taken care of, providing an environmentally sustainable source of nutrition for your little one.

Similac and Enfamil are the most popular brands here, so why should I buy European formulas?

While American brands often contain corn syrup, many parents are turning towards organic and natural baby formulas to avoid the potential health risks associated with GMOs. It's time to ditch the processed sugar and opt for formulas that are closer to nature, providing your little one with a healthy start in life. So why settle for the same old thing when you could give your baby the best of both worlds?

Why isn't it possible to purchase these formulas from the local grocery store?

You may be wondering why you can't just stroll down to your local grocery store and pick up some of our formulas. Well, unfortunately, our formulas haven't been approved by the FDA, which means they can't be sold in American stores. However, our formulas are certified by the European Union, which has even higher standards than the FDA. We're committed to providing the best possible formula for your little one, and we believe that the European Union certification speaks for itself when it comes to quality. We believe American babies deserve the same top-notch formula as their European counterparts. So even though you can't grab these formulas at your local store, we're here to make sure your little one gets the best start in life.

Are formula stages in European formulas important?

Yes, the stages of European formulas are important as they are specifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of infants and children at different stages of development. In Europe, formula stages are regulated and standardized, with specific requirements for nutrient composition and labeling. For example, stage 1 formulas are intended for infants up to 6 months of age and have a different nutrient composition compared to stage 2 formulas, which are for babies aged 6-12 months. It is important to follow the recommended stage for your baby's age to ensure they are receiving the appropriate nutrients for their development.

Are European Infant formulas irradiated?

We take quality control seriously and can assure you that our formulas are not irradiated. In fact, baby formula is considered non-perishable when it's unopened, so there's no need for irradiation. We want to give your little one the best possible nutrition without any funny business, so you can rest easy knowing that our formulas are free from any unnecessary treatments or processes.

Why do European formulas contain oils, and are these safe for my baby?

The answer lies in the importance of fatty acids for healthy growth and development, particularly during the first year of life. Breastmilk is naturally rich in fatty acids, with most of these being saturated fat. While too much saturated fat can be harmful to adults, it's essential for babies to support healthy growth. To replicate the benefits of breastmilk, each formula we offer uses a unique oil or blend of oils to provide the necessary healthy fats for your baby. Rest assured that we only offer formulas that meet the highest safety standards and are carefully formulated to provide your little one with the essential nutrients they need to thrive.

Why is there Maltodextrin in some European formulas?

Maltodextrin is a common ingredient in many European baby formulas, and it serves several purposes. One of the main reasons Maltodextrin is added to baby formula is to provide a source of carbohydrates for energy. Maltodextrin is a type of complex carbohydrate that is easily digested and absorbed by the body. It is also used as a thickener to improve the texture and consistency of the formula. Additionally, Maltodextrin can help to balance the sweetness of other ingredients in the formula, such as lactose. Maltodextrin is generally considered safe for consumption and is approved for use in baby formulas by European regulatory authorities.

Why is DHA important in baby formulas?

DHA, or docosahexaenoic acid, is an important omega-3 fatty acid that is crucial for your baby's brain and eye development. Research has shown that DHA plays a critical role in the growth and development of the brain and nervous system, particularly during the first few years of life. Studies have also suggested that DHA may help support cognitive development, vision, and immune function. Choosing a baby formula with added DHA can help support your baby's development and provide them with the building blocks they need for a healthy future.

Is there enough iron in European organic formulas?

Formulas from reputable European brands like HiPP, Holle, and Lebenswert typically contain a consistent level of iron, ranging from 0.76-0.99 mg per 100 calories. While this amount of iron is sufficient for most newborn babies' formulas when an infant's iron reserves are high, it may not be enough for babies who are at risk of iron-deficiency anemia. Premature or low birth weight babies, for example, may not have the same iron reserves as full-term infants, which means the amount of iron in their formula is crucial for their healthy growth and development. If your baby is at risk of iron deficiency, It's important to work closely with your pediatrician to ensure that your little one is getting the right amount of iron to prevent iron-deficiency anemia.

Are palm and rapeseed oil infant safe?

It's natural for parents to want to make sure the formula they choose for their baby is safe and healthy. Palm oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil are commonly used in European infant formulas and are safe for infants to consume. These oils are carefully selected to replicate the formulation of saturated fats found in breast milk, which is essential for infants' rapid growth and development. It's important to note that infants have a faster metabolism than older children and adults, so their bodies are able to handle and digest these oils without any problems. You can trust that the European infant formulas we offer are made with safe and natural ingredients that are carefully selected to support your baby's growth and development.

The company has been producing organic baby food and formula for over 80 years and is committed to using only the highest quality, organic ingredients in its products. Holle has strict standards for quality and sustainability and works closely with farmers to ensure that their ingredients are responsibly sourced and free from harmful chemicals and additives.

Holle stage 1 is an exceptional organic formula designed for infants aged 0 to 6 months. Crafted with premium organic ingredients, it ensures easy digestion and promotes the baby's natural development.

Is Holle formula good for babies that are lactose intolerant?

If you've got a little one who's sensitive to lactose but not totally intolerant, Holle formulas might just be the perfect solution! Holle’s formulas are specially designed to cater to delicate tummies by combining naturally occurring lactose with plant-based Maltodextrin to create a gentle yet deliciously sweet blend.

Does Holle infant formula contain added sugars?

Great question! Holle infant formula does contain small amounts of naturally occurring sugars, such as lactose which is the primary carbohydrate in breast milk. However, Holle does not add any additional sugars to their formula. Instead, they use a small amount of organic Maltodextrin derived from cornstarch as a carbohydrate source to provide energy for your little one. Maltodextrin is a type of complex carbohydrate that is quickly and easily digested by babies, making it a great addition to their diet. So, while Holle formula does contain some sugars, they are all naturally occurring and not added as a sweetener.

How long does 1 box of Holle formula last?

One box of Holle formula typically provides the equivalent of 15-30 meals, depending on your baby's age and appetite. Younger babies who require smaller servings will get closer to 30 meals out of a 400g box, while older babies who are starting to eat more will get closer to 15 meals.

How long is Holle formula good for once prepared?

Once prepared, Holle formula can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. It's important to keep the prepared formula covered and refrigerated at all times and to discard any leftover formula after 24 hours. This helps to ensure that your baby's food is fresh and free from harmful bacteria.

It's also important to note that any leftover formula should not be reheated or microwaved, as this can cause hot spots and make the formula unsafe for your baby. Instead, warm the prepared formula by placing the bottle in a container of warm water or by using a bottle warmer. Always test the temperature of the formula before feeding it to your baby to make sure it's not too hot.

How to prepare Holle formula?

Holle formulas come with age-specific mixing instructions that can be found on the back of each package. Kendamil

Does Kendamil have ARA?

Kendamil Stage 1 and Kendamil Stage 2 both have DHA and ARA. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and ARA (arachidonic acid) are long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6) that are found in breast milk and contribute to the healthy development of infants’ eyes, brain, and nervous system, as well as helping to regulate inflammation.

How does Kendamil differ from other formulas?

Kendamil uses whole milk recipes for all their formula stages which gives the formula creamier consistency and a delicious taste. Most formulas use fish oil as their source of DHA, which technically makes the formula not vegetarian. Kendamil formula contains zero fish oil, a natural allergen. It only uses plant-based DHA and ARA making it vegetarian-friendly. It is also the first organic European formula to contain HMOs.

What are the differences between Kendamil and HiPP?

There are several differences between HiPP and Kendamil Organic, such as:

Kendamil uses whole milk, HiPP uses skimmed milk

HiPP is soy oil-free while Kendamil is both palm oil and soy oil-free

Kendamil uses algae oil for DHA, HiPP uses fish oil

HiPP primarily uses the oil blend of palm oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil while Kendamil uses coconut oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil

What are the differences between Kendamil and Holle?

There are several differences between Holle Bio and Kendamil Organic, such as:

  • Kendamil vs Holle Bio (Stages 1-3)
  • Holle uses lactose + maltodextrin as the primary carbohydrate sources whereas Kendamil just uses lactose
  • Kendamil has added prebiotic- a GOS blend that also contains HMOs whereas Holle does not add any prebiotic to its formulas
  • Kendamil’s milk base is whole milk as opposed to skimmed milk like Holle uses
  • Holle primarily uses the oil blend of palm oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil while Kendamil uses coconut oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil

What is the difference between Kendamil vs Holle PRE?

Kendamil has added prebiotic- a GOS blend that also contains HMOs whereas Holle does not add any prebiotic to its formulas

Holle primarily uses the oil blend of palm oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil while Kendamil uses coconut oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil

What are the differences between Loulouka and Kendamil?

  • Kendamil uses a whole milk recipe and Loulouka does not
  • Kendamil is vegetarian-friendly as it uses algae oil for DHA whereas Loulouka uses fish oil
  • Kendamil contains HMOs and naturally occurring MFGM and Loulouka does not
  • Kendamil contains nucleotides, which are found in breastmilk, and Loulouka does not

Where is Kendamil manufactured? / Where do you source Kendamil from?

Kendamil is made in the UK and is the best option for parents who want a whole milk formula with DHA, ARA and prebiotics added. Kendamil is one of the longest-running baby formula companies in Europe. They are sourcing fresh dairy from family farms in the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site, that creates the perfect climate for the cows and organic farms.

Kendamil also received several awards, such as:

  • Best Product for Bottle-Feeding (Mother & Baby Awards 2021)
  • Queens Award for Enterprise (International Trade 2020)
  • Recognized by the Financial Times as 1 of Europe’s 1,000 fastest-growing companies (March 2020)

We import our baby formula directly from Kendamil in Europe. We don’t source baby formula from third-party sellers, and we guarantee that all of our formulas are shipped directly from Europe via air freight in order to minimize transport times and ensure that our products are always kept cool.

What are HMOs?

HMOs are the kind of prebiotic found in breastmilk. This allows good bacteria in the gut to flourish. Healthy gut aids in immune health by reducing the risk of infection and allergies and support brain development and cognition.

Kendamil is the first organic formula to contain Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs).

What is MFGM?

MFGM stands for Milk Fat Globule Membrane. This membrane structure surrounds fat molecules found in breastmilk (or other mammalian milk). Proteins and molecules are embedded in this membrane - some of these proteins have antimicrobial properties and act as growth factors.

The membrane is also glycosylated (i.e. has long carbohydrate chains) and can act as food for bacteria in the gut (similar to HMOs and other milk oligosaccharides).

Naturally occurring in formulas with a full cream recipe such as Kendamil (and others like Holle PRE).

This helps support cognitive development by playing an important role in brain structure and function.

What's the difference between Kendamil’s Classic formulas and Organic formulas?

While both formulas are made with Kendamil's signature commitment to quality, Kendamil’s organic formulas takes things to the next level. That's because all of the ingredients, including the milk, come from organic farms.

It takes over two years to convert a standard farm into an organic one, with changes needed to the land, animal feed, and treatment of animals. But the end result is worth it: better animal welfare, and higher nutritional quality due to the lack of GMOs, pesticides, or herbicides.

So if you're looking for the ultimate in organic goodness, choose Kendamil's organic baby formulas, certified by two of the highest standard bodies in the world: the EU Organic Certification and the UK Soil Association.

Why should I trust Kendamil?

Kendamil, a trusted British company, has been crafting infant formula for over 60 years. Their secret to success? A commitment to using only the highest quality, locally-sourced ingredients that nourish your baby in the best possible way. Plus, they go the extra mile to ensure their products are organic, halal certified, and free from harmful palm oil and GMOs.

But that's not all! Kendamil is also dedicated to minimizing their impact on the environment. They use renewable energy sources, reduce waste in production, and have even partnered with organizations to support reforestation projects and tackle plastic waste. When you choose Kendamil, you're not just choosing the best for your baby, but also for the planet.

NannyCare

If you're looking for a gentle and nutritious alternative to cow's milk-based formula, NannyCare may be just what you need. This innovative baby formula is made from goat's milk. One of the key benefits of NannyCare formula is its composition and nutritional value, which closely mimics that of breast milk. High in protein and packed with essential vitamins and minerals, it supports healthy growth and development in babies. For parents with concerns about lactose sensitivity or cow's milk protein allergy, NannyCare offers a viable alternative that may be easier for some babies to digest. So if you're looking for a formula that combines the benefits of goat's milk with the nutritional needs of your growing baby, NannyCare could be the perfect choice for you.

Why is NannyCare formula so good?

NannyCare baby formula is a smart choice for many reasons, and here's why:

First of all, it's made from goat's milk which is highly nutritious and much easier for babies to digest compared to cow's milk. Goat's milk is also naturally lower in lactose, making it an excellent option for infants with lactose sensitivity.

NannyCare formula is also packed with essential vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron, and vitamin d, making it a nutrient-rich option for your little one's growth and development. NannyCare formula is specially formulated to closely mimic the nutritional composition of breast milk, providing babies with the same crucial nutrients and immune-boosting properties that breast milk offers.

Finally, NannyCare offers different formula options tailored to babies of different ages, from newborns to toddlers. This makes it an ideal choice for parents who want to stick with the same brand throughout their child's growth without having to switch to a different formula.

Does NannyCare infant formula contain added sugars?

NannyCare infant formula does not contain added sugars. Instead, it uses lactose as the primary source of carbohydrates, which is a natural sugar found in milk. NannyCare formula is made from goat milk, which is naturally lower in lactose than cow's milk and also contains different types of proteins and fats that are easier for some babies to digest.

Is NannyCare gentle on baby's tummies?

Some babies have trouble digesting cow's milk-based formula, but NannyCare is known for being gentle on the stomach. The smaller fat globules in goat's milk may be easier for some babies to digest, which can reduce issues like gas, bloating, and colic.

Does goat milk formula have a different taste?

Goat milk formula may have a slightly different taste compared to cow's milk-based formula. Some parents describe it as having a creamy and slightly sweet flavor, while others find it to be slightly more tangy.  It's important to note that babies have different preferences and may take some time to get used to a new taste. If you are considering switching to goat milk formula, it's a good idea to start with a small amount and gradually increase it over time to help your baby adjust to the taste.

Why should I switch to goat milk formula?

Switching to goat milk formula may be a good choice for a few reasons. Goat milk protein is more easily digestible than cow milk protein, which can make it a suitable alternative for babies with sensitive digestive systems. Goat milk is also naturally lower in lactose than cow milk, which can make it a good option for babies who are lactose sensitive. Additionally, goat milk is rich in nutrients such as calcium, iron, and vitamin D, which are important for healthy growth and development in babies. Overall, if you are looking for a natural and nutritious alternative to cow milk-based formulas, goat milk formula may be a good choice.

Does NannyCare contain A2 casein?

Yes, NannyCare goat milk formula contains A2 casein protein. Goat milk naturally contains both A1 and A2 casein proteins, but NannyCare specifically selects goat herds with a predominance of A2 casein protein to make their formula.

Is goat milk formula the same nutritionally as cow's milk formula?

Goat milk formula is not the same as cow's milk formula nutritionally. While both goat's milk and cow's milk contain essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, and vitamins, the composition of the milk is different. Goat's milk is naturally lower in lactose and has different fat and protein structures, which can make it easier to digest for some babies. Additionally, goat's milk contains different types of fatty acids that are believed to have health benefits for infants. It is important to choose a formula that is appropriate for your baby's needs and to consult with a healthcare provider before making any changes to your baby's diet.

When to choose NannyCare?

NannyCare is a top choice for many parents who are transitioning away from breastfeeding or incorporating formula into their baby's diet. With its gentle, nutrient-rich goat milk formula, NannyCare provides a wholesome and delicious alternative to traditional cow's milk formula.

If you're currently using cow's milk formula and your baby is experiencing mild feeding issues or seems unsettled after feedings, NannyCare goat milk formula may be just what you need. It's easy to digest, packed with essential vitamins and minerals, and free from added sugars and artificial ingredients

Is goat milk formula suitable for babies with cow's milk allergy?

While goat milk formula may be a good alternative for babies who are lactose intolerant, it is not recommended for infants with cow's milk protein allergy unless under the direction of a qualified healthcare professional. Goat milk protein is structurally similar to cow's milk protein, which means that babies with cow's milk protein allergy may also react to goat milk protein.

Does NannyCare formula contain Maltodextrin?

No, NannyCare formula does not contain Maltodextrin. Instead, they use high-quality ingredients like organic goat milk and essential vitamins and minerals to create a highly nutritious formula that is gentle on babies' stomachs. If you're looking for a formula that is free from Maltodextrin, NannyCare is an excellent choice.

Choosing the Right Formula

We understand that choosing the right formula can be a daunting task, which is why we've done the hard work for you. Our collection includes top brands from across Europe, each one rigorously tested and carefully selected to ensure that it meets our high standards for quality and safety.

To make your decision even easier, check out our comparison chart, which allows you to easily compare the features and benefits of each brand. From organic cow's milk to goat milk-based formulas and more, we have something to suit every baby's unique nutritional needs.

How do I choose the right formula?

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the number of European formulas available? Don't worry; we've got you covered with some simple tips to help you choose the right one for your little one. First and foremost, make sure to choose a formula that is age-appropriate for your baby. European formulas offer age-specific stages.  Next, consider the three main categories of formula: cow milk-based, goat milk-based, and specialty formulas. Cow milk-based formulas are the most common and nutritionally complete. Goat milk-based formulas tend to be gentler on the stomach due to lower levels of lactose. Specialty formulas are designed for specific conditions such as reflux or allergies.

It's always a good idea to consult with your pediatrician for recommendations on the most appropriate formulas that will suit your baby's unique nutritional needs. By following these simple tips, you can feel confident in your choice of baby formula and give your little one the best possible start in life.

Our carefully curated collection includes only the highest quality formulas, each one expertly crafted to provide your baby with the essential nutrients they need to grow and thrive. If you have questions about which is right for your baby, see our comparison chart here.

Are formula stages important?

Choosing the right stage of baby formula for your little one is an essential part of ensuring they receive the proper nutrition at each stage of their development. Infants' nutritional needs change as they grow and develop, and formula stages are specifically formulated to meet these changing needs.

For example, Stage 1 formulas are generally designed for newborns up to 6 months of age and are nutritionally complete with a balance of protein, fat, and carbohydrates. Stage 2 formulas, on the other hand, are designed for babies aged 6 to 12 months and contain additional nutrients to support growth and development.

It's important to note that not all formulas have the same stages or age ranges, so it's essential to check the manufacturer's recommended age range and stage for each formula you consider. Additionally, some babies may have unique nutritional needs or health concerns that require specialized formula, such as hypoallergenic or anti-reflux formulas.

How long does it take a baby to adjust to new formula?

Typically, babies only need about a week to fully transition to a new formula, but for some, it can take as long as six weeks. During this time, you may notice some changes in your baby's behavior, including gas, constipation, and changes in their stool.

It's important to keep an eye on your baby's reaction to the new formula and to monitor for any signs of an allergic reaction. In children who are allergic to formula, symptoms can occur shortly after consuming milk and may include wheezing, coughing, hoarseness, and trouble breathing. Throat tightness, stomach upset, vomiting, and diarrhea may also be present. If you suspect that your baby is allergic to formula, it's important to seek medical attention right away.

When should I switch to formula?

Deciding when to switch to formula can be a complex and personal decision, and ultimately, it's one that only you can make. As every mom has different reasons and needs for making the switch, it's always best to consult with your pediatrician for guidance and advice.

While we know that choosing formula is a decision that should be carefully considered, we always encourage moms to breastfeed for as long as possible. Breastmilk is an amazing source of nutrition for your baby, and it offers a host of benefits for both you and your little one. Once you do decide to transition to formula, it's important to do so slowly and gradually to help your baby adjust as smoothly as possible. Additionally, formula can also be used to supplement your breastmilk in case you experience a slowdown in production.

Can I supplement breast milk with formula?

It's not uncommon for mothers to supplement their breast milk with baby formula for a variety of reasons, whether it be due to personal lifestyle decisions or medical reasons. While the decision to supplement is a personal one, rest assured that it's a common practice among many mothers.

Supplementing with formula can provide your baby with additional nutrition and may be necessary if your breast milk production is insufficient or if your baby is having trouble latching or feeding. It's important to consult with your pediatrician or a qualified healthcare professional if you're considering supplementing, as they can help you determine the best course of action based on your unique circumstances and your baby's nutritional needs.

When should I change from stage 1 baby formula to stage 2?

Wondering when to transition from stage 1 to stage 2 baby formula? It's a common question! Usually, parents make the switch around the 6-month mark. Stage 2 formulas come packed with higher nutrient levels to support your growing baby's needs. So, get ready to fuel that adorable little one with the right stuff as they grow.

What formulas are good for sensitive tummies?

There are several European baby formulas that are specifically designed to be gentle on sensitive stomachs and help alleviate discomfort in newborns. Some of the top formulas for sensitive eaters include:

HiPP Comfort: This formula is designed for babies who have trouble digesting regular formula and are prone to colic, constipation, or other digestive issues. It contains a blend of partially hydrolyzed whey protein and starch, which can help ease digestion and reduce gas.

Holle Goat: Goat milk formulas are naturally easier to digest than cow milk formulas, making them a good choice for babies with sensitive stomachs. Holle Goat formula is also organic and contains a blend of essential vitamins and minerals for optimal growth and development.

HiPP Anti Reflux: HiPP AR formula is specifically formulated to address the symptoms of reflux in babies. It contains a unique blend of natural locust bean gum, which thickens the formula and makes it easier for the baby to keep down. This formula also contains added nutrients that help support digestive health and overall growth and development.

HiPP HA: This hypoallergenic formula is specially designed for babies with cow's milk protein allergies or intolerances. It contains hydrolyzed proteins that are broken down into smaller, more easily digestible pieces, reducing the risk of an allergic reaction.

NannyCare: NannyCare goat milk formula is another great option for babies with sensitive stomachs, as it is made with gentle, easy-to-digest goat milk and is free of added sugars and artificial flavors. It also contains essential vitamins and minerals to support healthy growth and development.

Lebenswert Bio: This organic formula is made with only the highest quality ingredients and is free from synthetic additives and preservatives. It contains essential nutrients for your baby's growth and development and is gentle on sensitive stomachs.

Ultimately, every baby is unique and may have different needs when it comes to formula. It's important to consult with your pediatrician or a qualified healthcare professional to determine which formula is best for your little one's specific needs and sensitivities.

Preparation & Storage

How do I prepare the formula?

Proper preparation of your baby's formula is crucial for their health and well-being. Each formula has specific instructions for preparation, so it's important to carefully read and follow them based on your child's age and the type of formula you're using. You can find detailed instructions on our product pages.

To prepare a bottle of formula, start by sterilizing the bottle and all its parts. Then, boil drinking water and let it cool to a medium temperature. Next, fill the sterilized bottle halfway with the boiled water. Using the measuring scoop provided with the formula, add the appropriate amount of formula according to the instructions on the package. Make sure to level off the scoop with a knife or other flat surface to ensure the correct amount. Shake the bottle well to mix the formula and water thoroughly. Add more boiled water until the bottle is full, and shake again. Finally, test the temperature of the formula on the inside of your wrist to make sure it's not too hot before feeding your little one.

Why do you have to boil the water to prepare formula?

Boiling water is an important step in preparing baby formula because it helps to sterilize the water and make it safe for your baby to consume. Boiling the water for at least 1 minute helps to kill any bacteria or other harmful pathogens that may be present in the water. This is especially important if you are using tap water, as it may contain contaminants that could potentially harm your baby's health.

Baby's gut microbiome is more sensitive and delicate than an adult's, making them more susceptible to infections caused by bacteria such as Cronobacter Sakazakii. To reduce the risk of exposure to harmful bacteria, it is important to use sterile baby bottles and feed the baby as soon as possible after preparing the formula. It is important to follow the preparation instructions provided on the formula package and allow the boiled water to cool to the recommended temperature before mixing it with the formula.

How do I check the expiration?

To check the expiration of our European baby formulas, you should look for the date format of day/month/year, with the day and month reversed from the US format. For instance, September 15th, 2023, would be written as 15/09/2023 or 15.09.2023.

How long can I use an open container, and how should I store it?

To ensure the quality of the formula, it's important to store it properly in an airtight container in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once a formula has been opened, it is recommended to use it within 2 weeks from the date of opening to maintain freshness and quality. However, some formulas may have different storage recommendations, so it's always best to refer to the specific product's instructions for the most accurate information.

How long can a prepared bottle sit?

Once a bottle has been prepared, you should use it within an hour so long as it has been sitting at room temperature. For infants who will go to daycare or a sitter, if bottles can't be made fresh, they can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.

Does 1 scoop of formula equal 1 ounce of water?

Parents commonly assume that 1 scoop of formula is equivalent to 1 oz of water, but this is not always accurate. It is important to follow the measuring instructions provided on the specific formula package to ensure accurate preparation.

Where is the feeding chart?

You can find the feeding chart for each baby formula product on the product page of our website. Simply select the formula you are interested in and scroll down to the Feeding Guide section. The feeding chart will provide you with recommended amounts of formula per feeding based on the age of your baby. It is important to follow the feeding guide as closely as possible to ensure that your baby is receiving the appropriate amount of nutrients for their stage of development.

How should I store baby formula?

Baby formula should be stored in a cool, dark place that is away from sources of moisture and any potential contaminants. If your formula is in a can, always be sure to close the can lid properly. If your formula is boxed, be sure to tightly wrap the bag and secure it shut.

Requests for a replacement of formula purchased through Mommy Formula must be made by contacting the Mommy Formula support team at support@mommyformula.com. What expiry date can I expect?

The majority of our powder formulas expire 8 to 14 months from the date of manufacture. Organic products do not contain preservatives, and we only stock fresh batches.

Is the formula still ok to use if the can was dented in shipment?

If the can of formula is dented, but the packaging that touches the formula remains intact and is not punctured in any way, then the formula is safe for consumption and perfectly fine to use.

Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or PR?

Unfortunately, at this time, we only ship to the continental United States; we do not currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Will the holidays delay my shipment?

While our warehouse never sleeps and we process orders even on holidays, carriers may be overtaxed with shipments during the busy holiday seasons, resulting in possible slight delays that are out of our control. However, as soon as your order is processed by our warehouse, you will receive a tracking number, even if there is a delay in carrier pickup from our facility.
