Preperation
All formula should be stored in an airtight container and kept in a place that is cool,
dry and out of direct sunlight. An opened formula can be used for 2 weeks from the date of opening.
Once a bottle has been prepared, you should use it within an hour so long as it has been sitting at room temperature. For infants who will go to daycare or a sitter, if bottles can’t be made fresh, they can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
While most parents assume that 1 scoop is the same as 1 oz of water, there is a small shortage when converted. Instead, make sure to follow the measuring directions that are on the formula package
Every formula package includes preparation instructions. Make sure to read and follow the instructions listed for the specific formula you are using and for the age of your child. Specific instructions can be found on our product page. In general, to prepare a bottle of formula boil the bottle and all parts for at least 5 minutes before preparation. Boil drinking water and then allow it to cool to a medium temperature. Fill your sterilized bottle halfway with boiled water. Fill the measuring scoop with the appropriate amount of formula according to the instructions on the package. Shake the mixture well and add more water until the bottle is full. Shake again and feed your hungry infant
Because infant formulas are not sterile, it is important to use boiled water and sterile baby bottles. Make sure to feed your infant as soon as possible after preparing the mixture. This will help reduce the chances of exposure to the Cronobacter sakazakii bacteria.
Product
The majority of our powder formulas expire 8 to 14 months from the date of manufacture. Organic products do not contain preservatives and we only stock fresh batches.
The formula you purchase and the eating habits of your infant will determine how long each package of formula will last. Please check the serving information on the package listing for exact dosage information.
No! Only perishable items are irradiated, baby formula is considered non-perishable when it is unopened.
All of our products are sourced from the manufactured or certified wholesalers in Germany, England, and the Netherlands. We care about our customers and ensure that the products you receive are fresh, uncontaminated and authentic.
Docosahexaenoic acid or DHA which is found in breast milk is very important for brain development. The lab generated DHA-SCO which is included in many formulas actually has not been scientifically proven to be as beneficial for infants as commonly thought.
Too much saturated fatty acids, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fatty acids can be harmful to older children and adults. Infants have a much faster metabolism than that of both adults and young children. Breast milk is full of mostly saturated fatty acids to accommodate rapid infant growth generated by this metabolism. Many European formulas contain palm oil, rapeseed oil, and sunflower oil to replicate the formulation of saturated fats found in breast milk in baby formula. These oils are completely safe and natural for infant consumption.
All baby formula must have at least a minimum number of carbohydrates. In Europe, the composition and the number of these carbs are highly regulated. Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate that lacks sweetness and is generated from starch. The use of Maltodextrin helps reduce the sweetness of formulas due to natural milk sugars. It also helps to ease digestion and reduce sensitivity to lactose. They are complex carbs which also help infants to stay satiated for longer periods.
Infants' nutritional needs change as they grow. As a result, it is important that you choose the proper stage of formula that matches the stage of your developing child.
Other
Many popular brands in the USA have corn syrup listed as their main ingredients. As parents begin to understand that GMOs are unhealthy, there has been a shift towards organic and natural baby formulas. Instead of filling your baby's bottle with processed sugar, it is better to give them a healthy start by filling their bottles with ingredients that are closer to nature.
There are small differences between brands although both are organic providers with high-quality standards. Stage 1 Holle contains lactose instead of maltodextrin. Lebenswert is also certified by Bioland.
