Formulated for newborns to babies up to 6 months, Holle Stage 1 Organic (Bio) Cow’s Milk Infant Formula is made with organic ingredients of the highest quality and can be used as a supplement to breastfeeding or used on its own. Non-GMO and gluten-free, it doesn’t contain any steroids, hormones, antibiotics, or preservatives.
As one of the leading formula brands, Holle places a strong emphasis on the health of your little one, which is why their nutritionally complete Holle Stage 1 organic formula is formulated with organic vegetable oils. This is done in an effort to serve your child the fatty acids that are necessary for healthy development and a strengthened immune system. Infused with essential nutrients, our formula is free of any added sugars, gluten, or other harmful chemicals. Holle formula stage 1 is packed with essential nutrients and is easily digestible.
As this formula is free of any added sugar, corn syrup, egg, wheat, fluoride, or preservatives, 99% of the ingredients included in Holle organic formula are organically grown. Made in Germany, Holle’s Bio Stage 1 formula is certified as organic and adheres to the famously strict European standards, which are far more rigorous when compared to those within the United States. Even better, with the goal of achieving sustainability, all Holle milk products are produced by cows raised on biodynamic farms in nurturing environments. So, as our cows are being taken care of, your baby is too.
What Makes a Good Formula?
A good infant formula should contain high levels of protein, carbohydrates, and essential fatty acids, making up 98% of the formula. It should also have a good amount of DHA, which has a significant impact on the baby's comfort. Most formulas are made with cow's milk protein as it is easier for babies to digest. However, other formulas made from soybeans or goat's milk may be recommended for babies under 12 months of age. Unfortunately, due to a national shortage of baby formula, it is important not to try to make formula at home as there are serious safety concerns with homemade formulas. Our range of European organic formula is a popular choice for all the vitamins and minerals a growing baby needs.

What is the difference between Holle Stage 1 and 2?
The difference between Holle Stage 1 and 2 is primarily in the ingredients used. Holle Stage 1 is designed for newborns and infants up to 6 months of age, and contains 11g of fat, while Holle Stage 2, referred to as a follow-on formula, is suitable for babies from 6 months on and contains more fat and protein as well as starch and vitamins. Additionally, Holle Stage 1 uses Maltodextrin as its main carbohydrate source while Holle Pre uses Lactose.
Is Holle formula good for newborns?
Holle infant formula is a great choice for health-conscious parents looking for a suitable formula for newborns. Holle organic baby formula is certified organic and meets Demeter standards, making it safe and nutritious for newborns up to 6 months of age. Holle baby formulas contain added whey to provide a healthy balance of proteins, and the formula has a rich, creamy taste that many babies find appealing.
Gluten-free, this formula is an excellent source of protein found in breast milk and is perfect for introducing as one of the first proteins in baby formula. Many parents have reported excellent results when using Holle stage 1 organic baby formula with their newborns.
When should I switch to Holle 2?
When it comes to switching to Holle Stage 2, it is recommended that parents do so when their baby hits 6 months of age. Holle Stage 2 is specifically formulated for babies between 6 months and a year old who are ready to transition to solid baby food with their formula. This formula consists of lactose and starch, making it thicker than the Stage 1 formula, which will keep your baby full for longer.
Additionally, Holle Organic Formula Stage 3 is suitable for babies from 10 months of age and parents may also consider transitioning to whole cow's milk at around 1 year. Holle Goat Milk Stage 2-Organic Follow-On is also available for those who need a convenient and quick option for their infant milk needs.
Do most baby formulas have iron?
Most baby formulas in the United States contain enough iron to support a growing child's needs. Formula manufacturers have classified formulas as low-iron or iron-fortified based on how much iron they contain, at a concentration of 7 mg of iron per 100 calories. Iron is important for both babies and adults because it helps create red blood cells and helps transfer oxygen throughout the body.
