What is the difference between HiPP stage 2 and HiPP stage 3 formula?
HiPP stage 2 is suitable for babies aged six months and over, whilst the stage 3 formula is only suitable for babies aged ten months and over. Both are suitable to use as either a supplement to or a substitute for breast milk.
In terms of nutrition, stage 2 and stage 3 have different levels of carbohydrates, protein, and various vitamins and minerals. This is because their ingredients are tailored to what your baby needs at each specific age.
When do you switch to HiPP stage 3?
Typically, parents will switch their baby to HiPP stage 3 from around 10 to 12 months of age, but no earlier than ten months, at which point they will discontinue using the HiPP stage 2 formula. As always, if you have any concerns regarding your baby’s diet, you should consult your pediatrician.
Is HiPP stage 3 necessary?
As a follow-on milk, HiPP stage 3 isn’t strictly necessary, but it has a lot of benefits which make it worth considering. Its balanced nutritional profile, which is tailored to meet the needs of older babies, can help ensure that your baby is getting everything they need to grow and stay healthy.
What nutrients does HiPP stage 3 provide and how does that help a baby's development?
HiPP stage 3 provides the three main macronutrients of fat, protein, and carbohydrates which your baby needs for energy to play and grow. It also contains all of the vitamins and minerals they need to stay healthy. Additionally, it is fortified with extra calcium, which supports bone development. The vitamin D also present in the formula makes it easier for them to absorb and utilize this calcium as well.
