Benefits of Holle Organic Formula

Traditional Farming Methods

Holle milk is a Demeter-certified brand, which means that they use organic practices that are sustainable and beneficial to the environment. Holle understands that your baby’s nutrition starts with holistic animal husbandry. By using traditional farming methods and integrating eco-friendly technology, Holle helps millions of babies have access to Organic Baby Formula.

Lower Lactose

Unlike HiPP, which uses exclusively lactose as a sweetener, Holle baby formula uses a combination of both Lactose And Maltodextrin in all of its formulas. Maltodextrin is a great carbohydrate alternative for babies that experience digestive issues with lactose, like with Celiac disease, sensitive skin, constipation, and gas.

Affordable Breast Milk Alternative

Holle is committed to educating the world about the magic of breast milk. However, for those who can’t breastfeed, many organic formula options are expensive and cost-prohibitive. By creating a healthy, Organic Formula using German efficiency, their product is easy to mix, great-tasting, affordable, and wholesome.

No Refined Sugar or Chemicals

Both cow and goat milk varieties are perfect for parents looking for a short list of Wholesome Ingredients. Free from refined sugar, synthetic chemicals, and heavy metals, Holle baby formula is sure to give you peace of mind… and a strong, healthy baby!

FAQs

How long is Holle goat milk formula good for?

Holle’s formula will last for at least 2 weeks after the pouch has been opened. Once opened, it is important to store the formula in a dry, dark, and clean place; the ideal option would be a sealable glass container. Glass bottles are simpler to clean and sanitize as they can handle the high heat of a dishwasher. However, plastic bottles break down under those conditions, potentially causing chemicals to leak into the baby formula.

What is the difference between Holle Stage 1 and 2?

Holle Stage 1 and 2 are two different formula options for babies of different ages. Holle Stage 1 is designed for babies from birth up to six months old, with the goal of mimicking breast milk as closely as possible.

This formula does not contain any starch and is composed mainly of fat, protein, and vitamins. On the other hand, Holle Stage 2 is a follow-on milk formula designed for babies from six months on, with an increased fat content (11 g in Stage 1 to 14 g in Stage 2) as well as more protein and starch.

The main difference between these two formulas lies in the source of carbohydrates, with Holle Pre using lactose and Holle Stage One using maltodextrin. Additionally, the new version of Holle Goat 1 contains 13.9 mg of algal DHA per 100 ml of formula (per 100 calories). Ultimately, parents should choose the right formula for their babies based on their individual needs.

Can you put Holle formula in the fridge?

Holle Organic formula should never be refrigerated, whether it is opened or not. Once you open the container, it will last for up to two weeks if stored in a cool and dry place. However, if your baby has fed from a bottle and there is leftover formula, it can safely be stored in the fridge for up to 48 hours.

Bottles that have been prepared from formula powder can also be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours after being made. If you have not started using a prepared bottle within two hours of making it, then it should be immediately placed in the fridge and used within 24 hours.

If you wish to prepare multiple bottles at once, it is possible as long as the unused formula is stored in the refrigerator within an hour of being made.

How do I know if my formula has expired?

Knowing if your formula has expired can be a tricky task. If you have an unopened container, check the top or bottom of the can or on the side of the label for a Use By/Expiration Date. This will be embossed (raised) and include a Product Identifier below it.
If you have moved your powder formula into another container and are uncertain of its expiration date, look for signs of spoilage such as clumping, discoloration, or a foul smell. If you observe any of these signs, discard the formula immediately as it is no longer safe for consumption.

Additionally, all baby formula packaging will include a printed expiration date. It is important to use the formula before this date passes as it is no longer safe to consume after this point.

If you find yourself in possession of an expired formula, take it to the store where you made your purchase to see if they will exchange it. It is important to remember that baby formula does expire, so always check the expiration date before using the product and discard unused formula after one hour at room temperature.

When do you stop using Stage 1 formula?

It's best to wait until about 6 months before transitioning from stage 1 formula to another form of nutrition. For babies younger than 12 months, cow's milk is not recommended because it does not provide the complete nutrition necessary for developing babies.

Instead, it is recommended that babies continue to get most of their nutrition from breast milk or infant formula until they are 9 to 12 months old. Parents can choose either a stage 3 formula, also known as toddler milk, or plain whole cow's milk or fortified unsweetened soy beverage when their toddler is 12 months old.

To prepare infant formula, parents should place the bottle with prepared formula in a bottle warmer or container with hot water for no more than 15 minutes. Ultimately, it is important that parents work toward a goal of transitioning their baby to a variety of nutrient-dense food sources.

When do you switch from Holle pre to Stage 1?

When it comes to choosing the right formula for your baby, please consult your pediatrician before making any decisions. Holle Stage PRE is suitable from birth until 6 months of age and Holle Stage 1 is available from birth onwards or if changing from breastfeeding.

After 6 months, it is recommended to switch to either a Stage 1 or 2 formula. HiPP Stage 1 from the Netherlands & Germany also provides excellent options for babies over 6 months. Holle Bio Pre infant formula and Holle Bio infant formula have a single stage that can be used from birth to 12 months of age. For toddlers over one year, Holle Stage 3 is recommended.
